Inclusion considerations
Hearing diversity
Not everyone hears the same way. Where possible, provide alternative channels such as captions, text transcripts and visual alerts, to ensure that core content and prompts are available to all.
Sound overload and sensory sensitivities
Some individuals, for example some people with autism, may find certain sounds, sudden noises, or loud environments overwhelming or distressing. Offering user-adjustable volume controls, sensory-friendly sessions, sound dampening headphones and ensuring access to a quiet space, can all help reduce sensory overload.
Spatial audio for orientation
Spatial or 3D audio can enhance immersion and assist navigation for those with limited vision. However, keep in mind that some people may have difficulties localising sound. Providing complementary visual or tactile cues can help ensure that essential directional information is not lost.
