Inclusion considerations
Diversity
Not all users are comfortable with the same interpersonal distances. Creators could provide adjustable avatar proximity tiers allowing people to tune their comfort radius.
Some people are put off experiences if they know in advance that there is no way of avoiding social interaction124. Consider adding ways of letting users do your experience separated from others and make this feature obvious to users beforehand. In the case of VR, you could consider booths or a roped off section.
Peripersonal space sensitivity
Surprise intrusions into this space can trigger defensive reactions. Where close approaches are part of the experience (e.g., looming objects, intimate encounters), offer opt-in gradual motion, soft sound cues or haptic forewarning. Provide preview clips, clear opt-out points and staff support.
